“The Remarkable and Rare Collections of the VIII Bogd Khan” Exhibition Series
This exhibition, dedicated to the 390th birth anniversary of the Enlightened Saint Zanabazar or Undur Gegeen, explores and presents an engaging visual depiction of the zoo of VIII Bogd Jebtsundamba Khutuktu, the last emperor of Mongolia, and his curious and rare collections.
In this exhibition by artist S. Chuluunbaatar, viewers are treated to vivid portrayals of the Bogd Khan’s rare possessions- including his brown elephant, and the three red-bottomed monkeys humorously nicknamed by the citizens of Khüree, along with animals like crocodiles and peacocks, the tall Gongor, the first glass-windowed Ford automobile, and a watch tower once stood on the streets of Khüree. These are depicted in an engaging manner alongside the lifestyle, fashion, and atmosphere of the time.
As a researcher, artist S. Chuluunbaatar has long studied the Soyombo script designed by Enlightened Saint Zanabazar. He has uniquely incorporated this script into the descriptions of his series, enhancing them with decorative and distinctive elements.
The creator of the series “The Remarkable and Rare Collections of the VIII Bogd Khan”, S. Chuluunbaatar, is an artist and designer by profession. Since 1991, he has worked in his field, presenting more than 50 solo and group exhibitions both in Mongolia and abroad. His work has received widespread acclaim and professional recognition.
